South African Afro Soul powerhouse, Zahara has unveiled her highly-anticipated fourth studio album titled “Mgodi.” Off that project of musical art is a deep and powerful piece, “Umfazi,” that defines the story of the Country Girl. The potential flagship record of the album features legendary American smooth jazz saxophonist, Kirk Whalum.
Further explaining the amazing vocals and musical abilities of Zahara is a no brainier. That her 2011 debut “Loliwe” album went platinum in only 13 days and double platinum in 17 days with over 100,000 copies sold in South Africa is just about enough testament of her trade and craft.
This time, “Mgodi” also looks to be on that path and with such deliveries as “Umfazi,” we wouldn’t even be surprised if it further raises the bar for the Phumlani, East London-born star whose real name is Bulelwa Mkutukanahad.
She is already regarded as one of South Africa’s most successful female artists with several awards already in the bag. We believe the support and legitimacy of Kirk Whalum can only push her territory unto international frontiers.
“Umfazi” is a slow-tempo, soulful and emotional piece that streams right into the depths of the heart and soul. You definitely want to get your weekend into better perspective. Cop, then be sure to share your thoughts and opinion in the comments section below.
